The Full Story

The purposes of instituting an IEP or 504 Plan are to:

  • Enable the student to be independent in school

  • Support the student’s acceptance and self-esteem

  • Allow the student to adapt and cope to school within his/her limitations • Keep the student safe from predictable physical injury

  • Facilitate communication between the student, parents/guardians and school staff about health needs and accommodations in school
